Is Donald Trump a Politician?

Part of Donald Trump’s original appeal was he was not a conventional politician. However, it’s beyond reasonable dispute he’s far more effective at politics than conventional politicians are. As president he has consistently acted to concentrate federal power in his presidency, and to diminish the influence and power of the rest of the federal government. That’s a problem at least because one way or another, eventually Donald Trump will no longer be president. Then, a new president will be imbued with all of that consolidated presidential power. The founders purposefully and permanently divided the powers of the federal government precisely so no one could legitimately obtain and use all of it. Why? Because one person with that much power is hard to resist if it’s used against the People. The founders knew only too well, because of their experience under King George III, that giving one person an overabundance of power is a terrible idea.
